N5017N / 2102516 (cn 44-85740) (Best at 1152.) A nice surprise for me today while I was up at Catawba Island, was the arrival of the EAA's B-17 "Aluminum Overcast", which will be giving tours and rides for the next two days at Port Clinton airport,(KPCW). Actually built by the Vega division of Lockheed Aircraft, it was delivered in May 1945, too late to partake in the war effort. After a checkered civilian career including stints as a cattle hauler, aerial photography platform and a pest/crop duster, it was beautifully restored to war standards by the EAA, and now tours the country on a regular basis.
