None (cn None) With all the pictures being posted of Marine Week, I thought it would be interesting to post an old postcard from my collection showing BKL in its earlier days. I believe the time frame is the late 60's. Notice the construction of the new runway 6L. The undeveloped parking lot in the foreground and area east of it used to house hangars for light aircraft. The area between the airport and breakwall was wide open, and not filled in like it is today. A Tag Airlines DeHavilland Dove sits outside the new terminal building. |

Unknown (cn Unknown) I picked up this nostalgic post card last week at Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island. It reads: In 1936 Milton Hersberger acquired the first of seven Ford Tri-Motor airplanes that had retired from service with major airlines. The Fords, based at Put-in-Bay, transported passengers and freight to the western Lake Erie islands for almost 50 years. Their rich history evokes fond memories for islanders and visitors alike. |

Unknown (cn Unknown) A recently acquired postcard showing 56th FIS F-86L's on the flight line at WPAFB, mid to late 1950's. WPAFB operated the F-86D's with the 97th FIS (Those markings can be found on the F-86D at the AF Museum) and then later on flew F-86L's with the 56th FIS. The 56th traded in these F-86L's for F-104's in the late 1950's. |

None (cn None) I cropped and enlarged my Hopkins Airport Hotel postcard shot to focus more on the airport and airplanes. Visible in the photo is an Eastern DC-6, TCA Viscount, and I belive an Eastern DC-8 on the south side of the west concourse, 2 United DC-6's on the north side of the west concourse, a United Viscount, and 2 DC-6's on the west side of the North Concourse, and a Lake Central DC-3 and American Electra on the East side of the North Concourse. Guessing early 1960's. |

Unknown (cn Unknown) Just acquired this postcard of Youngstown Warren Airport Ohio today. The letter on back is dated 1/28/54, so I am guessing the date of the shot as 1953. The card shows a United DC-3 and Capital DC-3 in its old all metal scheme. The caption on back reads: "Youngstown's Municipal Airport. One can travel and make connections to all parts of the world from this busy air terminal." |

N47457 (cn 212) United Airlines Viscount 745D seen at Atlanta in this postcard shot from my collection. I loved the Visount- had the opportunity to see a lot of these at CLE as a youngster. The caption on the back of this postcard reads:rn\\\"Capital Airlines ordered 60 of the new turboprop in 1954, adding a few more later. The first was delivered on June 16, 1955. CA placed it into service on July 26, 1955 between DCA and MDW. On June 1, 1961, United took over Capital and 41 of their Viscounts, returning 15 to Vickers (they later took 6 back). The large fleet was operated until January 14, 1969 when the last was retired. N7457 was sold to TACA on Febraury 24, 1969 as YS-28C.rn |

N14FB/N3FB (cn 14078/14111) Fischer Brothers Aviation/Allegheny Commuter DH-114 Riley Turbo Skyliners based in Galion, Ohio. I still personally use the name Heron for these planes in this undated postcard. N3FB on the right was written off in CLE when it struck a vehicle while landing. N14FB crashed in 1986. This postcard also includes a picture of the very small interior of these craft which sat 16. The back of the postcard contains a long advertisement for Fischer Brothers, which I did not bother to copy here. |
