NC8407 (cn 4-AT-69) This was used to carry passenger over the 2010 Cleveland Tall Ships Festival for a rumored $60.00 a head. I think it would have been a good time but didn’t have the money.

NC8407 (cn 4-AT-69) (Best at 1152.) Passing over my house for the third time this afternoon, I get the feeling I'll be seeing quite a bit of this beautiful classic over the next few days as it gives rides out of Burke Lakefront Airport.

NC8407 (cn 4-AT-69) At one time the Queen of the Skies, this classic Ford Trimotor is in town through the weekend giving rides at Burke Lakefront Airport...something I hope to do this Sunday! Delivered in 1929, this 81 year old lady still looks and sounds great!

NC8407 (cn 4-AT-69) The very simple cockpit of the Ford Trimotor. Next time, I pay the extra bucks to sit up front in the right hand seat!

NC8407 (cn 4-AT-69) View of the CAK Rnwy 1 threshold taken from the Trimotor. Takeoff is very quick and smooth, but turns are accomplished with more of a skid then roll. A very stable and pleasant aircraft to fly in, with lots of time to view the ground!

NC8407 (cn 4-AT-69) Nose shot. Take note that these are not the EAA Ford Trimotor's original engines. When it was restored, it was re-engined with 3x Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Juniors, rated at about 500hp each. The Ford Trimotor was originally powered by 3x Wright R-975-1 Whirlwinds, rated at about 225hp each. Therefore, the power was doubled, yet it only gained about 10mph on its cruise speed (told from an EAA staff member that helped rebuild the aircraft). July 4, 2008.
