71-0876 (cn 47475) Though painted like a VC-9C, this aircraft was instead a C-9A. 71-0776 spent most of its service life in Europe, and was the personal aircraft for the Commander of NATO. In September, 2005, this aircraft was retired to Andrews AFB for display. Photographed at the Andrews AFB Open House in May, 2006, just 10 months after its retirement. |

N44V (cn 4545) Built as a C-47, painted as a DC-3 in Piedmont livery. The challenge of photographing these vintage planes is to capture them with nothing in the background to date the shot. I came close to succeeding on this one. An absolutely gorgeous aircraft! |
