N483AK (cn 25017C) Built in 1997, this Maule looks like it could use a little air in the tires. I was intrigued to find a pre-flight checklist to this very aircraft online: http://goeringlaw.com/Aviation/N483AK%20Normal%20Procedures.pdf

N2567D (cn 20719) Built in 1952, this classic 170 rests at Merrill Field, one of the neatest airports you could ever visit. To drive along the ramps there is to travel through general aviation history, and the majority of the aircraft are still flying!

N9206Y (cn 18-8921) When I was a little lad, I used to buy these cheap plastic "Piper Cub" models at the dime store around the corner from our house. (I think they cost a quarter or something like that...) and they came with oversized tires just like this. I always thought they made the planes look cheesy, but that was before I knew about bush planes and tundra tires! Not a great shot, but I wanted to share the memory.

N428E (cn 3125) At an airport known for its relics and classics, this brand new Aviat Husky was registered only three days prior to this photo, and had to be the newest plane on the field.

N3207B (cn 22-2034) This 1953 PA-22-135 Tri-Pacer is a bit unusual in that it is the first I've seen without the coverings on its fixed-gear mains.

None (cn None) As you can see from this detail of one of the visitor\\\'s maps at Merrill field, it is only the active runways and their immediate vicinity that are off limits to visitors here. This leaves plenty of ramp space to explore and seek out the GA classics that seem to be parked all over the place.

N11DA (cn AF-408) This aircraft started life in 1953 as a twin-tailed, tail-dragging Beech C-45G Expeditor for the US Air Force before it was converted by Pacific Automotive to its current configuration after which it flew for Denali Air on flightseeing tours. While Denali Air is still around, they sure don't seem to be using this plane anymore as it has been photographed in the same spot for many years, and seems to be losing parts in the process.
