	N679MG (cn 22557) Champion Air were regular visitors, especially when they had the NBA contract to fly the teams around, but when that contract went to Northwest Airlines, Champion lost their major source of income and soon folded, once and for all sealing the fate of any kind of regular service by passenger 727's at Hopkins. Pictured here rising off of runway 6C during the last period of usage before being converted to a taxiway.

	N675MG / N674MG (cn 22553) (Best at 1152 size.) A pair of Champions...These Champion Air 727's are both parked on the Air Services ramp on sports charters back in 2007. Champion Air went out of business on May 31 2008, bringing an end to regular (albeit charter) 727 service to Cleveland.

	N676MG (cn 22554) Remember these guys? It wasn't that long ago that Champion Air had a contract with thirteen NBA teams, and was the airline the Cleveland Cavaliers used. With the loss of the NBA contract in 2008, higher fuel prices, and the operating economics of their aging 727 fleet, Champion Air closed its doors on May 31, 2008.

This photo shows the opposite side of the same departure pic posted by Chuck on 5-17-08. His shows the sunshine on the north of the airport over the lakeshore, mine shows the dark rain clouds inland to the south.

	N679MG (cn 22557) Rolling down runway 24 left, this Champion Air 727 is taking the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team to Boston to play the Celtics in game 7 of the NBA playoffs. This may very well be one of the last flights for this aircraft under the Champion Air banner as the airline lost its NBA contract, and will suspend operations at the conclusion of this years playoffs.
