N517XJ (cn E2335) (View at 1152.) When the sun came up this day, it was to the awkward sight of this Mesaba RJ sitting on its nosewheel due to an overnight gear collapse while undergoing maintenance. It took most of the day to right the aircraft and put it back on its feet. |

N517XJ (cn E2335) Now retired from Mesaba's fleet along with all the RJ-85's, this particular aircraft would end up on its nose at gate C-04 after an overnight maintenance mishap almost a year after I took this photo. May 1, 2005 |

N517XJ (cn E2335) This is the view everyone on the concourse saw as they walked by gate C-04 on the morning of March 5, 2006. An overnight incident during routine maintenance left this Mesaba aircraft on its nose after the nosewheel partially retracted. It took most of the day, a crane, and a large airbag to get it righted. N517XJ (cn E2335) During the long day of trying to get this Avro back on it's nosewheel, the folks from Rich's Towing had to be brought in to place a large airbag under the aft fuselage to prevent the aircraft from tipping on it's tail while being righted. N517XJ (cn E2335) Appearing a bit undignified, this RJ suffered a nosewheel collapse at the gate while undergoing some routine maintenance. It took a crane, a large airbag, and the better part of the day to get it righted. |
