Hugh,

That's excellent that you remember flying in this same aircraft so many years ago. It's a great photo for me as well as I spent a lot of time at the old "5K".

Best of luck with flying lessions.

Yup - it was absolutely Jim McCurdy's. I'm 31 years old now and he took me up in it one time when I was just a kid (1980's). It was the first private plane I had ever been in and two decades later I still remember the tail number (and that day). I can't believe I found a picture of it! I'm hoping to begin flying lessons later this year.

If I remember right, this Skyhawk was Jim McCurdy's.

I have no idea, but it sure was around for quite a while. I thought it was a NASAIRS plane at first, but I can't find any info to confirm that. And I'd love to see those photos!

To anybody's knowledge, was this the last aircraft to be based at 5K?

I'll have to dig up my vintage photos of 5K and Sundorph. Definitely cool stuff there not too long ago.

Thanks. :-) I wish I could find more people who would be willing to contribute photos from all the operations on that side of the field back in the day...cool stuff there at one time!

Bringing back the memories of 5K. I logged a lot of time there. Thanks
