A remember the NE/SW and also N/S sod on the NW corner of the field well. The weekend warriors would tear it up! My very first airplane ride was on a Cessna 337 that was parked at the Quads. |

Ah...my bad! So THOSE were the quads! I've seen photos of the NE sod, but have no personal recollection of it. Amazing how this place has changed over the years! |

Chuck: I took a flight lesson at 5K, the quads I am talking about are just above the dirt mound on the right side of the shot (4 hangars visible) They were no doubt vacant when you took this shot. I have some private plane pics at CLE I need to post- newbies won't believe how much civilian action used to take place there- remember the NE sod?? |

Thanks guys! Kenneth- thats 5K/TJ that you speak of...and the lot next door was one of the employee lots where I used to park during those years. No UPS ramp on this side yet either! And member Michi can tell you a few stories about the Rich L-1011's that'll make your toes curl and pieces parts pucker! |

What a great shot of the airport back then! That classic tristar always parked there! |

Great nostalgic shot Chuck- the airport has changed a lot in the last 13 years. Note the quad hangars in the lower right part of the photo- our friend used to house his Piper Cherokee there, in the days when light aircraft still were based at CLE. |
