N9964Z (cn 3729) Navy Bu No 92648. This aircraft has Ohio roots-built by Goodyear in Akron, Ohio, this aircraft was accepted by the Navy on 7/19/45. After a few assignments, the aircraft served with the Naval Air Reserve Training Command at the Akron Fulton Airport from June to October 1948. Today. the aircraft is painted up as F4U-1D Bu No 92463 serving with VMF-312, that was shot down by AA fire on 5/6/45 off Okinawa. An awesome aircraft!
