Mark is correct, the info must already be in the database for the autofill to work. Once you've uploaded a new photo of something that's not in there, that information is automatically added so that the next time you upload the same registration it will use that for the autofill.
We have to be careful to double check that the information it pulls up is correct...keep an eye on the check boxes and make sure the ones you want checked are checked.
It works great for anything that's already in the base, new registrations and airports have to be done the old way.
It works the same as A.net or Jetphotos.net. If the aircraft is in the photo database already then it will find the data. If it is not then how can it find the data? We cannot poll other websites for the data since that costs that person money to ping their database. We are growing and adding more registrations everyday. Once it gets entered into the OPShots database once then it is there for the next time.
If you have a different solution then we are all ears.
I've been searching a little bit and found this on the FAA's website:
You need to be a member to view our links.
You may download the entire database to your computer by clicking on the link below. The archive file contains the:* Aircraft Registration Master file
* Aircraft Dealer Applicant file
* Aircraft Document Index file
* Aircraft Reference file by Make/Model/Series Sequence
* Deregistered Aircraft file
* Engine Reference file
* Reserve N-Number fileWe update these files weekly. The records in each database file are stored in a comma delimited format (CDF) and can be manipulated by common database management applications, such as MS Access.
I'm no script kiddie, but I know that the person that wrote this cool gallery software can probably do it in his sleep.
I've copied script and tinkered with it to get it to work correctly on my sites so it shouldn't be too hard.
I think I'm going to try to import this database into a mySQL database on my server and see what I can do just fooling around a little bit. I love tinkering with stuff like this.
