Hi All,
Great news! Be prepared for the unveiling of our newest forum format! Don't be afraid…this will require nothing on your part, no re-registering, no nuthin, just more of what we've been missing!
You will see the return of the old style format, only built on a "lighter" platform. Some of the highlights you will see:PM messages – personal messages can be sent again.

Custom Avatars – upload your own, easily
Signatures – they're back!
Images – you can insert into posts- no need for the Picasa route.
Videos – ditto
Custom post count ranks (Remember those?)

I'm most excited about being able to once again insert images into your posts, and won't have to mess with Picasa, which some of us (myself included) found too difficult to mess with.

What we will lose, however, is the photo bar on the right side of the page, but hey…you can't have everything, and besides, you can access the same info a number of other ways.

As you know, the only reason we had to change the format in the first place was because we had an emergency need to find a lighter platform for our forums…we were taking too much space on our server. Ever since, we have been looking for a suitable replacement that would bring back the fun of the old forums, and we've finally found one that we believe will meet our needs!

Over the next few hours, expect to see the change take effect. Once again, there will be no need for you to reset your passwords, or re-register…it will just transfer over.

It should go smoothly, but there may be a glitch or two along the way. Mark will be monitoring closely to make sure there are no issues, but if you should encounter one, be sure to let us know so we can set it straight.

I'm really looking forward to this change since I, like most of you, miss the old way it used to be. I wish I wasn't working today so that I can "play" along with you throughout the day, but I will chime in when I can!

Let us know how you like it…and we think you WILL like it! Let's bring the forum back to life!

Have a great day, everyone, and talk to you very soon!

Just some more on this. Picasa is here to stay. We will use that for FS photos and whatever else we need to add. You can see all the latest Picasa uploads on its dedicated page on the site:

You need to be a member to view our links.

Want to see the latest regular gallery comments? It has its own page too!

I like the subscribe feature.

Will this format notify us of replies to threads we are involved in? That was one feature that I really missed. It actually made me get on the site more often.

Out of the sandbox, finally!

I'm not sure...that's something that Mark will have to answer.  I believe you can use the "watched topics" button at the top of the page.  I'll have to try it out.

Thanks dimoko!  That's exactly how I feel.  I can somehow navigate this forum so much more intuitively than the interim one.  If only we'd have had the time to find this one before the last...but in reality, there are a bazillion forum platforms to choose from, and it's actually quite difficult to find the one that suits us best within the constraints we have to work with, and I think Mark has done us very well with finding this one!  Thanks Mark! Laugh

I haven't had much chance to navigate around, but from what I can tell, I like the new format.  Whatever works best to meet the needs of the group, there'll be no complaints from me!  I appreciate all the hard work you guys do Chuck and Mark to keep this site in top shape!
