Anyone locally heard anything about this? Came across the topic on the forums over at A.Net where it seems certain it's going to happen.

I have to say, when I flew USA3000 back to Cleveland from Sarasota, FL (a very short-lived route), the service was a mess. They either didn't have computers or their system was down at check-in, so they were handing out hand-written boarding passes. Then it turned out that they seated a family with young children in one side of the exit row, and a disabled person on the other side. The plane was packed and in chaos with people changing their seats until the last minute before taxi.

I found out just a few weeks later that they dropped SRQ and now according to their website they also dropped PIE... only RSW remains in Florida.

I found this posted on another site, and it is supposed to be an excerpt from a letter to USA 3000 employees:

"Due to changes in our flying schedule for Philadelphia, effective July 01, 2011;

the signatory lease for office space at the Philadelphia station will expire and will

not be renewed. We are analyzing the logistics for the crew base in Philadelphia

and will be communicating this to all of you as soon as possible.

We are still working on the schedule for the Winter 2011/12 season, but we want

to be clear that this schedule will be based on the lease return schedule shown

below. Future planning through the end of 2012 will also be based on this fleet

schedule.

Due to the continued volatility in fuel prices, competitive pressures and changes

in the markets in which we operate, the decision has been made to return our

remaining aircraft in accordance with the table below. The aircraft leases will not

be renewed or extended, nor will any additional aircraft be acquired (dates are

approximate):

Fleet Size

October 16, 2012 till January 2013 - 1

In summary, we must continue to fly our customers daily with excellent customer

service and maintain our stellar safety record."

Wow what is Apple Vacations going to do. We had great flights down to Cancun (except the time we got stranded there due to the fire/power outage at CLE in 01/10)
