I wondered what people thought of the current debate about putting up a no-fly zone over Libya. I listen to POTUS on Sirius (when HS isn't on) and there has been a pretty lively debate about the costs involved, foreign policy ramifications, and how best to do it.

I have to be honest and say I haven't given it a moment's thought, so I can't really comment, but thanks for bringing the debate to our attention.

Let's keep our military out of this internal Libyan mess. Anyone who thinks the rebels there need protection, feel free to go there yourself.

If we still had F-14's around, I'd say yes, let's run up the score and try out the Phoenix missle already. Tomcat 4, Libya 0.

I think we should sit this one out. We're stretched pretty thin already.

On second thought, that screwball in Libya got off too easily for the Pan Am flight 103 incident over Lockerbie. Use any and all means necessary...

i say we send the greenest pilots we have in the oldest aircraft we have and they still come back without a scratch.

airstrikes on their own people? its a shame.

Neighboring Sudan faced the slaughtering of millions for YEARS with hardly a presidential mention of the possibility of helping out. Just an observation. Infer whatever you like from that.

I think Muammar Gaddafi would make a perfect Captain Hook. He already has the hair and the outfit. Hillary should play Peter.

Interesting AP article I found on the topic.

On the one hand I see what people are saying about the costs, but wouldn't this be the perfect live fire training exercise? I am sure the USAF/USN are already spending money on training flights and live fire training.

As far as the foreign policy aspects, I can see be both sides of the argument (did I mention I was torn on this issue?) 😉
