Have been working at the remote clinic in Dirab the last two days. Yesterday, I heard some high speed traffic outside, but I couldn't get out to see anything.
Today, I was outside after arriving, and I heard them again. I looked up expecting to see F-15S's, but instead, I got to see Typhoons. They came around individually, and flew off.
A few minutes later, a flight of three came by, with the fourth flying way off to the side, like he was taking photos. They were followed by two more. They were fairly low, but not low enough to see any markings with the naked eye. Pretty sweet to see something that different.
Don't know anything about them, but I'll guess that they were new pilots getting checked off on the type.

I'm pretty sure that they were RSAF. When I googled for some info, there were some bases listed that were not that far away from where I was.
Also, with the coming of the cold weather, the skies during the day have been crystal blue, with only haze near the horizon. I've been trying to get some shots of stuff flying over.
Unfortunately, when they fly over me, it is directly over me, as in no marking visible.
I hope the flight patterns will change, though.

its cool when you see something different fly over. The most i get thats not an everyday fly over is a stray Beechcraft Starship or an F-22 with an F-16 chase plane.
Powered by a 330hp John Deere 6081H CNG fueled, turbocharged 8.1 Liter 6 cylinder engine connected to an Allison B400R6 six speed automatic transmission with built in retarder.
Update. Yesterday morning I got off work, and got home to the compound. I had not been home long, when I heard heavy jet noise. I ran outside, and saw a bunch of stuff fly over.
It consisted of about 12 F-15's, 8 Tornado's, and 4 Typhoons. All were flying in pairs. This morning, the same thing happened. About 8 F-15's, 8 Tornado's, and 4 Typhoons. It looked like all had on long range drop tanks. Yesterday, they wee maneuvering east of my compound. Today, they continued outbound someplace.
According to some of my Saudi coworkers, this all has to do with the final pull out of troops from Iraq. The Saudi's are worried that Iran will make a play into Iraq, and upset the balance of power. Iran has already been fomenting trouble in the Eastern Provinces of KSA with protests and rioting earlier this year. The Saudi military have been conducting many exercises to deal with Iran, and insurgencies locally, as well.
So, this could be shaping up into something very ugly.
