Anyone else seen the trailers for this? What do you think? Are you going to see it on the big screen?
At first glance I was a little bummed that it looked like a really good Lucas Arts game, but then I went on the website and saw that actually did use some Mustangs in the filming, as well as had meetings with the airmen and had a few on set during filming.
It's a shame that Cleveland politics is so out of touch that nothing about our local connection (Benjamin O. Davis high school sits derelict) can be spun into something positive. At least project Red Tail made it to CNAS!
I saw an interview with George Lucas last night where he said the film was intentionally made to look like it was made in the 40's, and intentionally "low tech" even if the techniques used to do so were high tech. The whole plot style and everything was meant to invoke the war films of the earlier days in the 1940's. I guess if you keep that in perspective, you will see why it was done that way.
I for one, am looking forward to seeing it!
Supposedly Oprah has a special with the cast and crew on the 15th. I am sure the script has been "punched-up." I thought HBO's movie was very good, even if it was more character-based than action-oriented.
For any of you classic movie buffs out there, TCM will be showing a newly restored print of "Wings" at their upcoming film fest in LA. If we could get enough people interested in it, we could probably get the Cinematheque, CMA, or vintage theatre like the Canton Palace to show it.
