I'll see what I can do, but I'm not sure if I can get to the west side...a long shot from the other side might be all I can get. And yeah, I don't know how much longer they will leave them there. I'm not even sure that there are more than a couple aircraft there these days. I would love to explore them, there must be lots of memories inside!
I got some pics this morning from over at 5K. I'll get them posted soon as I can - hopefully this evening. You guys are right too - there is a ton of history here. I found the (now covered) holes in our ramp at Atlantic where the crowd line used to be during the air races after the war. There are a bunch of pics I found on the internet that show the ramp as well. Pretty neat! Here are a couple I found online - you can see the current FBO building and hangar in the background:
Oh I know...the history here is incredible! I have a great book on the old Cleveland Air Races that has a ton of cool pics, and there's another one on "Cleveland's Legacy of Flight" that are great, but they hardly scratch the surface of it all. Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, Howard Hughes...they've all been here. Roscoe Turner, Jimmy Doolittle...the list goes on!
Thanks for those pics!
