yep, they are calling it the 747-800 Intercontinental.  So Far there are more cargo customers than pax versions tho, i believe korean air and lufthansa are buying PAX versions tho.

You know what I'd love to see (and this may be my ignorance about such things talking)...I would love to see Boeing extend the upper deck the full length of the plane and have an aesthetically appealing response to the hideous monstrosity known as the A380.

For some reason Boeing changed the designation from -800 to -8, so it's now known as the 747-8 Intercontinental:

You gotta love how Boeing's site tries to bring the golden era of passenger flight into the 21st century. It would be great if the planes were that nice, the service was that good, the food was that tasty and the passengers that civilized.

That being said I will always remember my LAX->DEN 747 flight years ago!
