A bunch of my CommutAir pilot friends on Facebook had this article posted on their "wall"...all I can think of is ouch. I think I make more as a flight instructor than a F/O under that proposal.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Pilots for CommutAir plan an informational picket in Cleveland Tuesday.
They are protesting a wage offer that they say would make them the worst-paid turboprop pilots in the country.
The chief executive of CommutAir, John Sullivan, declined comment on the pilots' assertion.
The CommutAir pilots will march in front of the terminal building at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Air Line Pilots Association said.
CommutAir pilots voted to join ALPA in June 2008. They've been in negotiations for 20 months on a first contract.
CommutAir is a regional partner for Continental Airlines, flying 37-passenger Bombardier Q-200 turboprops out of Cleveland and Newark. Many of its 130 pilots are based in Greater Cleveland.
The company gave an opening financial proposal four weeks ago, a nine percent pay cut that would put CommutAir pilots at the bottom of the regional airline industry, ALPA spokesman Rusty Ayers said. They are already nearly the lowest paid in the regional airline sector, he said.
Under CommutAir's offer, a first-year co-pilot would make less than $20,000. [/qoute]
