Boeing 787 makes emergency landing over Texas after smoke appeared in the rear of the main cabin.

WOW !!!  According to this Seattle Times article, it was a "serious in-flight fire" that affected the flight controls & caused the loss of primary flight displays and the auto throttle.

Wonder if this will affect Boeing's delivery schedule??

The article says that the crew of "30 to 40" was evacuated via the slides.
Question: Is that the typical number of crew on a routine test flight?

Wow, that's unfortunate for the test program.  Hope it's nothing serious.  Good test of the emergency evac stuff and backup systems I guess, although not the preferred way.  Thanks for the info.

prolly is standard for the test flights with 40 folks onboard. Sounds like to me the plane didnt like all those computers hooked up in the back. Something shorted or overheated in that electronics bay.

Powered by a 300hp John Deere 6081H Natural Gas fueled engine connected to an Allison B400R6 six speed automatic transmission.
