Going on a cruise in December and will be spending about 9 hours in St. Maarten (10 a.m.-7 p.m.) on a Tuesday (12/6). Does anyone know how far the cruise port is from SXM? What's the best time of day to spot? What's the best location to tell a taxi driver to go to? Isn't there a hotel/bar/restaurant where one can relax and watch the planes arriving? Who knows, maybe Princess will have a shore excursion for plane spotters?! Wink

It's only a couple miles from the port, so it should be a fairly inexpensive taxi ride.  Just ask the driver to take you to the boat bar at Maho Beach, and you are good to go!  As for times, I dunno...you'll have to dig a little deeper for that.

I planned to go there on honeymoon until I discovered the US Government would not permit me to re-enter the US if I went! Had to settle for Hawaii!

Really?  Why is that?  I think that I may go down there for my vacation...working on those pictures gave me the itch!

Because the US Government does not permit aliens to enter the US on a fiance visa, get married then leave the country before their permanent residency has been approved. Emergencies are permitted but a honeymoon is not considered an emergency! The approval took 9 months!
