I plan on flying back to the Philippines in May for a couple weeks, then I want to go from Manila back to CLE.
How long does it usually take to go between those two points? Is it 24 hours like I have heard from some folks? What would the best routing be, and with what airlines? What other things do I need to know about? I'm sure that I will be bringing souvenirs from KSA and the Philippines with me. How much trouble will Customs be?
Anything else I am missing/forgetting?
Thanks.

Exotic sea shells are a popular, easily portable, and bargain-priced Philippine souvenir. Shell collectors go crazy there. Gorgeous examples abound. Other hand-crafted goods show great skill, but double-check the basic material. Tax laws often prevent importing the best raw materials to work on.
As far as transportation goes, it's a long trip. There is no great way to do it. We found that changing planes on the West Coast broke up the trip better than changing in Chicago or New York. A stop in HNL takes (or used to take) hours longer - not good unless you want to break up the trip and spend a day or two there. PAL offers a non-stop MNL-LAX; that is the fastest and might be the best choice, but it costs more - quite a bit more, IIRC.
That was one of the things I was wondering about. Would it be better to stop in Hawaii and change, or the west coast. Is it really that much of a difference time and money-wise between the west coast and CHI/NY?
It almost makes me wonder if it would be better to go back to Riyadh and go west, or try and go north via Hong Kong and Japan. Hong Kong was only a two hour flight from Manila.
