There is a chance that I will be getting leave at Christmas, and I will go to the Philippines. Can you guys give me some info on flying from there back to OH to visit? How long does it take? Airline suggestion, etc.

Thanks.

Doug

There are multiple ways to get from MNL to CLE, the easiest probably being on Delta, the only US airline (other than Continental Micronesia) to fly to Manila. All require at least a double connect (e.g. NGO/DTW-probably the easiest routing on DL or NRT/ATL or NRT/DTW, etc.). Total trip time should be about 21-26 hours and fares will probably be running a bit under $2,000 at that time round-trip. It will be one way. I'll be going from Riyadh to Manila. Staying a while, then coming this way. And it doesn't have to be a US carrier.

By the time I finish, I should have circled the globe, I think. Smile

You might want to consider a "Round the World" fare offered by one of the major alliances.  My parents flew around the world on Star Alliance carriers a couple of years ago and then did it again using Oneworld this past summer.  I think Skyteam offers this type of package too.

Here are the links:

My search-fu must really suck. I just tried all three to route from Riyadh to Manila to CLE, and and back to Riyadh. I couldn't get anything to work. It seems like they all want you to fly preset routes in certain regions.

Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. Laugh

1.  You have to start and finish at the same airport. (As you are apparently doing)

2.  You have to cover a certain amount of miles (they have a window).

3.  You cannot double back over either ocean.

4.  Yeah, sometimes they suck.

I'll see what I can do for you.

OK I have found the problem.  You need to have at least three stopovers for at least 24 hours each in order to use the RTW fares.  Right now you only have two:  Manila and Cleveland.  So, maybe you want to spend a day in Hawai'i?  Cool

Ah, ok. Now that makes sense. I guess I'll have to rethink my plans now. Thanks.
