Imagine that hook let loose!  Is the pilot in position as if he's ready to fly in case it does?  Could you just imagine the surprise that would be if that thing broke!?

Pretty cool being able to see the "turkey feathers" open and close. It was interesting to see  that the area of dry ramp was about 20-30 feet behind it.

 

Great video, Mark. Any idea where/when it was taken?

In my earlier days I worked on a carrier fligt deck and was amazed to be that close to a tomcat during cat shots.
