In 1987 I worked at Jeddah King Abdul Aziz International Airport on a Haj contract for a Saudi company who provided Ground Services at the airport.
Before being engaged for the contract, I had to confirm that I was not Jewish and was also advised that if I had any Israeli stamps in my passport, I would have to obtain a new "clean" UK passport with no evidence that I had ever visited Israel.
I was told by the British agency that engaged me on behalf of the Saudi company that this was Saudi law and compliance was required to travel with Saudia(as the airline was then called).
Consequently the current "hoo-hah" comes as little surprise to me and has probably only been seized on by the Code-sharing nature of Delta's deal with Saudia Arabian Airlines, whereby each others T&C have to be made public.
Understood. Prior to my coming over here, the recruiter gave me a list of "forbidden" items. Religious items outside of the Muslim religion were listed. The recruiter made some comments during a call explaining some "things" in greater detail, and that exact subject came up.
Now that I am over here, and can see things as they are for myself, a lot of it makes sense. Sorta.
If you have never been here, it will make no sense at all to you.
