Confirmed today.  Going to keep that 767 production line going...:

"In order to continue the modernization of the company's aircraft fleet, FedEx Express has signed an agreement with The Boeing Company to purchase 27 new 767-300F aircraft, with three arriving in fiscal 2014 and six per year in fiscal 2015-2018. The 767s were selected as the best choice to begin replacing FedEx Express's MD10 aircraft, some of which are more than 40 years old. The 767s will provide similar capacity as the MD10s, with improved reliability, an approximate 30% increase in fuel efficiency and a minimum of a 20% reduction in unit operating costs".

that production line simply wont die!

After a shaky paris air show, boeing has really jam-packed its order books...as both a share holder and fan of the company, this is great news.

YES!!! Fed Ex shoulda been chose the 767 line for its services! UPS has been using them for ages. The 767 will not die out no time soon if cargo companies keep buying them.

So we should only expect to see them on a diversion or perhaps peak?

I wondered where our operational payroll reductions were going. I hoped they weren't for new banners at FDX field in MD.

who knows......a 767 might be spotted in place of the normal A300 for Cleveland service......or the run might be split up between the two aircraft.
