GREEN, Ohio - A plane veered off the runway while landing at the Akron-Canton Airport early Friday morning.

That plane came to rest in the grass near the midpoint of runway 23, after leaving 200 feet of skidmarks on the runway.

United flight 5916, was traveling from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. It tried to land shortly after midnight and something went wrong.

Airport safety crews and the Green Fire Department responded to the incident.

The jet was carrying 42 passengers, including one infant, and 3 flight crew members. Everyone was able to get off the plane safely, and no one was hurt.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. The flight was operated for United by ExpressJet Airlines Inc.

Channel news just showed a quick 30 second piece on this. It was an Express Jet 145 in company colors with mud caked on the wheels. Sure hope it wasn't OPShots friend Capt Doug at the controls.

That's what I was wondering too. He just had a pretty good bird strike five days ago while departing Newark. Luckily, they returned to the field safely and without damage...just a lot of goose blood.
