Discover Aviation Days started as a Young Eagle Rally and Pancake Breakfast.   We advertised in the local paper and people brought there kids for free airplane rides.  It just kept getting bigger.  2011 was our first year at Lorain County as we hosted EAA’s International Learn to Fly Day.  There were a lot of airplanes on display including a United Express Regional Jet.  2012 brought even more aircraft and 2013 was our first ever airshow.  A lot goes into an airshow.  There is paperwork that the FAA must approve, we need police and the fire department on field.  Then there’s all the stuff you never really see like car parking and porta potties.   It’s a lot of work and there are a lot of people that volunteer their time and money to see it come to life.

The theme of this year’s event is:  “Aviation, A Little Something for Everyone!”

From Remote Controlled airplanes to commercial passenger jets, there will be something to see for everyone.  Come Jump around in “The Discovery Zone” super play land for the little ones, “RC World” featuring “Dronewerx” for the modeling enthusiast, “Lighter than Air Land” featuring balloons, gliders and ultralights, and “Rotor World” for helicopters and helicopter rides.  Many unique antique and military aircraft on display and of course there will also be many flight opportunities available for people of all ages. In addition to our fabulous Day Airshow we are bringing back the areas only NIGHT AIRSHOW in years featuring “Celeste Steele, The Star Rider”.  Celeste has a dream of flying in the stars, with help from her flight instructor “Paul Aries” you can come along with Celeste as she takes flight in many types of aircraft at night and learn about her journey through stars, galaxies, the constellations and more.  Discover Aviation Days 2014 will feature multiple airplane flybys and demonstrations, performances by The E-Team Skydivers, Dan Buchanon, Manfred Radius, James Leavelle, Bill Koleno, Emerson Stewart,Team Redline, Brett Hunter and Dan Marcotte.  Visit the performers and get their autographs in the “Flying with the Stars” Tent!
