Well...I gotta say, day one was kinda boring, but is sure was HOT! I am still burning up and feel like I'm about ten degrees above normal. Nothing a few beers won't cure though. The B-17 didn't fly because of a towing accident that sheared a pin on the tailwheel, but they should have it back up and running by tomorrow, and the aerial displays were seemingly few and far between. I wonder what they are saying on the facebook page?
I'm just sitting down after a long day and about to download my day one photo harvest to see what I came up with. I think I managed a few good shots, so we'll see...hope to post some soon!
My wife thought I was insane going after working a 12 hour night shift. About 3PM I had to concede she was right. The only reason I was this stupid was the forecast of Saturday being the best sunshine wise. Also the next best attraction of airshows on a hot day are the ladies in their tank tops & shorty shorts. Agree with ho-hum as the best description of the show this year. Was not happy with having to wander around for 5 minutes just to find a garabge can, the porta johns are few and far between, the grass along the flightline needed to be mowed, and I had a perturbed survey taker who could not understand I would prefer to speak with her AFTER I had the chance to take in the days activities. Was it just me, or were the high performance acts farther away from the crowd this year? I did enjoy going deaf while the Golden Kinghts Troopship run up its engines in the morning. A big fan of the A-10, I loved the demo. Seeing it fly between the buildings downtown was great. Seeing the F-4 was great too. Takes me back to my year at Suwon AB in Korea where I got to see USAF A-10's and the ROK AF F-4 interceptors operate daily. The Canadian Orion was sweet, first time I've seen one in action. Also enjoyed sitting under the wing of the C-130, near the occaisional drip of oil from the engine, having a fish & chips lunch in the shade. Will be back with the kids on Monday with temps in the 60's, with the wind chill howling across the lake from the northwest.

Anyone know if the Thunderbirds are accessible at Atlantic to watch the ground show and let the kids get autos? I hope so, the kids always look forward every T-Bird year to see them "up close" at NASA.
Sorry – there is no public access at Atlantic – I'm sure there are a lot of bummed folks but there's not a lot that we can do. They have not done their "show launch" Saturday or Sunday. It is precise but it is definately a "deployed show" launch.
Heading down in a bit, not the weather I was hoping for, but I have box seats for the first time ever, so in for a penny...
At least the weather beats last week. I was at LNK racing and got to see a RC-135V, E-6B, T-38s (in the gray camo scheme, nice) and even a private BAE/Siddley Hawk. The weather there was in the upper 90's with the heat index above 100. Then drove back to CLE through six straight hours of rain (WKYC weather app FTW!).
