Just got home from the convention. I could have dropped lots of money on aviation books alone, but my best camera lens crapped out on Monday, so I'm already saving my nickels for a new one. I did get great book on the Lockheed 188 Electra and a sweet 8x10 color photo of a Flying Tigers CL-44. The variety and quantity of merchandise there is great. There was haggling going on between some vendors & buyers, you might get a deal if you ask.

Part of the goodie bag for registered attendees are a collection of postcards featuring aircraft photos by our own George Mihalek. Thank you George! One of the vendors is already selling some of these postcards.

I will be there on Friday for a ramp tour in the morning, the UA Ops tour in the afternoon. Smile

*Side Note: The toilet paper in the mens room was very flimsy. Took me about 5 minutes to gabritate enough from the dispenser for a good clean up. The guy in the next stall was swearing as well. You have been warned. Frown

Did the "ramp tour" this morning. This consisted of a 45 min slide show & tour at the airport fire dept, followed by a 15 min demo of snow removal equipment and a fire engine spraying the ramp with its high power nozzles behind the A concourse gates. If you were expecting any time for observing or photographing aircraft operations, not going to happen. During the fire dept tour I switched to whatever tour group was at the front of the bldg to catch a few photos of aircraft passing on the taxiway.

Trivia note: The CLE fire dept is a port authority operation, not City of Cleveland. So, I did learn something today!

I hope anyone who went to Airliners International had a great time.  There was quite a variety of things to see and do.  The folks from outside Cleveland were very impressed and had many good things to say about our area.  It was a boost to our hobby as well as the Northeast Ohio region.

Special thanks to Chuck, Liz and DJ for your help at the show.
