Hi All,

Well, the big event is nearly here...the 2013 Airliners International Convention to be held at the Sheraton Hotel right here at Hopkins Airport from June 26 thru 29th!  This is the first time this prestigious event has been held in Cleveland, and the World Airline Historical Society has graciously requested our help.  They are looking for volunteers to help with various aspects of the event such as registration desk, ticket takers, security and more.  This is an awesome chance for us to help out with a great event and to help get the OPShots name some wider recognition.  We may never see this show here again and I highly encourage us to show them what we are made of and do OPShots and CLE proud!

This opportunity is open to all OPShots members and members of Cleveland's aviation community in general, and will be a great place to do some networking and to meet great people from across the globe with a passion for commercial aviation.

Here is an excerpt from the request with more details.  The actual positions and hours they need filled will be posted shortly:

_____________________________________________________________

The 2013 Airliners International Show and Convention will be held at the Sheraton Cleveland Airport Hotel from June 26 through June 29, 2013.  This is an annual gathering of airline/aviation enthusiasts that has been in existence since 1977, this June marks the first time the event has been held in Cleveland.  United is the Official Airline of the Convention and The CLE Airport System is a major sponsor.

The committee needs volunteers to help with things such as the Registration Desk, Badge/Ticket Checkers, Load-In Helpers for the vendors and Night Security.  These are completely unpaid voluntary positions with the exception of Load-In Helpers and Night Security.  This is an excellent way to show your pride in both Cleveland and United as attendees come from all over the world.  Even though United is the Official airline, this is unrelated to employment at United and is open to anyone who is interested.

For the Load-In helpers, we are looking for some responsible young people who can help the vendors bring in items from their vehicles into the show for set up and then take down and reload their vehicles at the end of the show.  The Night Security position is to make sure no one is allowed into the show area when the show is closed.  These Load-In/Night Security positions are paid but no one will become wealthy doing this.

There is discounted admission for Airline Employees with I.D.

Thanks Chuck for getting the word out to the OPShots world that we need volunteers.  Right now I've had a few people sign up but we still have a need for many more to cover the show entrance and other responsibilities.  This is a great way to support the hobby and enjoy the company of others with similar interests.  Come on folks, please send me a message and help the cause !

Bob

Well we're getting closer to the show and it looks as though it will be a good one.  About 150 vendor tables have been booked, most tours are sold out and the hotel bookings are above plan.  This will be a great opportunity to buy, sell or trade airline memorabilia as well as meet interesting people from all over.

Since it is going to be a large turnout we certainly need additional volunteer helpers, so let me know what hours you would like to join the fun.  As a volunteer helper you will receive free parking at The Sheraton and free admission to the show as well as some food provided while you're there.

Thanks !!
