Guess they've found a Midwest focus city! Or maybe they're trying to gauge if they could actually run a hub here?
Kind of surprised they'll add ATL and try to go head-to-head with DL on that route. Also that makes TWO carriers that will go to RDU beginning this summer. And anyone want to bet that by the end of the year, UA will drop their services to FLL, TPA and RSW?
Also note that Frontier is increasing their CLE-MCO frequency from four to six flights per week before the route even starts - based on demand. It was anecdotally reported that SEA ibookings are doing very well also. They previously doubled flights to DEN based on demand. I guess the city is giving them a nice welcome.

Do you think Frontier will need additional ticket counter space or gates? There is certainly a lot of unused space at CLE now, with more to come (Concourse D).
I hope so, but not right away. Despite all the good news, it's only about eight flights a day total - and Frontier is equipment constrained at the moment, limiting their ability to add flights without cannibalizing DEN. Some new Airbuses are coming at the end of 2015, but that's a ways off.
A11 is one of the 4 common use gates on A Concourse (A7, A9, A11 & A14-the latter 3 also being international arrivals gates). So I suppose they could always just use another one of the adjacent gates and pay the "rent" for the time they need it. If their operation should ever significantly expand, there are other gates on A that are not used at all any more (A2, A4, A6, & A5?). We will have to see what AA does in terms of consolidation on A. Any word on what their plans are for the combined AA/US operation in CLE?
Does Frontier have enough counter space in the ticketing area. It's rather squeezed there now, but I suppose it's manageable if there is only going to be one flight at any given time.
It is rumored that we can look forward to Frontier adding more flights. I heard the airport has spoken with all domestic carriers in the US and that one carrier is definitely interested in adding service, but which carrier it is has not been disclosed. It was said that Alaska Airlines is not interested after F9 added flights to SEA. A reason that JetBlue would not come to CLE is that JetBlue focuses on New York and Boston which are still serviced by United so there is not too much potential there. All we can do is hope new airlines come! Maybe a new start up will be interested
