Cleveland is spreading its wings! Frontier announced that we'll start nonstop flights from Cleveland Hopkins to Orlando, FL and Seattle, WA this June. They have a nice promotion to kick off the announcement to boot! The flights will be made with Airbus A320's with their STRETCH seating offered. This is excellent news and a great sign that airlines are recognizing the potential market Cleveland offers."With the launch of service to Trenton-Mercer Airport today and the addition of these two routes in June, Northeast Ohioans now have an ultra-low fare option to get to both the East and West Coast with Frontier," airline Senior Vice President Daniel Shurz said in a statement.
The additional new flights to Washington and Florida announcement came as Frontier and Cleveland officials marked the arrival of the first Frontier nonstop from New Jersey, landing at Hopkins about 12:30 p.m today.
Fly to Orlando for as low as $69* starting on June 13th and enjoy the theme parks and warmth. Or, fly to Seattle for as low as $119* starting on June 15th to explore the Emerald City in the great Northwest.…
Sorry to be a grump---but cannot really get excited by a semi daily flight to seattle in the summer and a semi daily flight to Orlando that leave at different times each day. Trenton is also quite an important add ???? Additionally an off the wall flight to Ind and a daily flight RJ to Rdu are nothing to get the blood flowing!! Looks like the Cleveland leadership really has nothing to offer and needs to get its head out of the hole.
Unless a regular service is added to important business centers by a real airline lets stop the pretending that we have any real news. 4 of these flights are lucky to make it 4 months.

Well, there's DL coming up with IND and RDU. (Or did the Cleveland Clinic come up with those?) My big question is will the Clinic get Delta to do CLE-CDG or CLE-AMS? Two connections getting to Abu Dhabi is a real burden for those docs and nurses.
Frontier began CLE-DEN with two freqs a week (who thought that would work?) and this summer they're up to 2 almost-daily flights. With their size and working capital, they have to move slowly and rely on cheap fares to fill the planes despite the randomness of their schedule. It seems to work for them over time.
How about a route to Richmond, Virginia? I read that Dominion Resources is a frequent flyer on this route, which isn't enough to maintain a profitable route, but maybe there is a need for the route. Any thoughts on this? Who might want to pick it up? I could see JetBlue or Frontier adding this route.
Any word on Alaska Airlines?
