I'm not sure if this belongs in the CLE service section, but UA is apparently cutting DEN (its other domestic hub) significantly with the fall schedule changes, reducing the hub from something like 418 dailies this summer to 343 by November or 18%.
The DEN cuts may take some of the pressure off CLE, which has higher yields. CLE=22.09 cents/mile vs DEN 16.24 cents/mile with the average DEN haul about 100 miles (10%) longer, according to DOT data.
Much hoo-ing and hah-ing on a.net by disbelieving DEN supporters in a largely fact-free discussion.

There will be no cuts in cleveland as a part of this latest announcement. In fact, continental capacity is up by one percent from September through December, and united will be down about 15 percent, which means capacity will be about flat.
Hopefully in the next batch of CLE passenger numbers there will be more good news!
From Saturday's PD:
Only a 3% reduction of flights and <1% reduction in seat capacity this fall. Could have been up to 10% based on agreement signed by UA and the state at the time of the merger. This compares quite favorably to the other CO/UA hubs:
"Meanwhile, year-over-year capacity at Continental's hub in Newark is declining 3 percent and at its hub in Houston, 3.8 percent.
Among United hubs, the company is cutting capacity 4 percent at Los Angeles, 4.9 percent at Washington Dulles and 7.2 percent at Chicago O'Hare. Denver is dropping the most, with seating capacity falling between 11 percent and 17 percent from September through December, depending on the month, according to the data from UBM Aviation Worldwide."
Found another interesting factoid in the DOT data. Premium of hub domestic fares to average fare, citing UA hubs:
EWR +28.1%
IAH +25.6%
CLE +19.9%
IAD +13.7%
ORD +13.6%
SFO +5.3%
LAX +0.3%
DEN -5.7%
SFO and LAX get away with it because UA makes so much on their international flights. But with CLE and DEN chiefly domestic hubs with similar load factors, the logical choice of where to cut is pretty obvious.
