The entrance to CLE and arrivals/ticketing level was shut down today, May 2nd, 2017 due to a security concern, according to CLE airport authorities. All buses and RTA trains were prevented from entering the terminal area as well.
At 14:18 on May 2nd, 2017, @GoingPlacesCLE tweeted: "Part of our ticketing level is currently closed for a security situation. Please be patient and avoid the area."
At 14:41, the airport announced that it was waiting for the Explosion Detective Team to arrive. At 15:43 in a reply Tweet to another user, the airport announced that there was no bomb threat, but that they were taking the proper precautions to address a security concern, said to be a suspicious package.
At 16:01, the airport tweeted that law enforcement had given them the all clear, and at 16:02 they announced that the scene had been clear and asked for patience as they resumed normal operations.
At 17:00, the city will host a press conference to discuss the issue.
