Sorry for the post on this thread and the misspelled words, I am trying to do this from my new phone. Anyway, I am at Toledo express racing this weekend and just heard the 747 -800 will be here between 11am and noon for a crew change. We are racing on the south side of the runway by bax global so I will try to get some shots.
Sorry guys, been slammed with work. I was actually working the course when it came in (later than we had heard) and quickly left. I have some cell phone pics and a video (now to figure out how to get them off my new phone). I was so distracted a car spun in front of our worker station and I didn't even notice until I heard some yelling and we had to stop the other cars on course (the funny part at the end of the video).
Two things that stuck out in my head:
- That thing is super quiet! Who'd a thunk a sawtooth pattern on the trailing edge of the engines would help with that?
- The thing literally seemed to go straight up (the video does not do it justice) everyone's jaw dropped when it used what looked like far less than half the runway to take off. I might have been delusional from the dante inferno-like heat, but it was amazing nonetheless.
