Probably both but it is all done in the name of safety. I'm almost positive that they fall under D.O.T regulations like we do but are way more closely monitored than truckers..... We may drive a maximum of 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty but ay not drive beyond the 14th consecutive hour after coming on duty, following 10 consecutive hours off duty. Off-duty time does not extend the 14-hour period. IF you are caught a minute over you are put out of service and slapped with a stiff fine.... not to mention your load is late, pissed off dispatchers and quite possibly the loss of your job.... thats IF you get caught.
