We were very lucky here in northeast Ohio. While we were never in a higher category than "slight risk," it appeared certain that we would at least get isolated thunderstorms. I monitored Wunderground.com for most of the day and what happened is that we had overcast skies and later, rain. The area could not warm up enough with the overcast, and the system got rid of energy through the rain. In Kent, we had one very mild thunderstorm and that was it. I'm thankful that the severe weather didn't get here because I live in "a pre-fab on a slab" in addition to more general concerns about safety.
