I don't remember anyone posting this, but the NKP 765 steam engine is running this weekend through the Cuyahoga Valley. More details here:

The Valley line is very cool.  I've been on the ride but not with the steam engine.  I should probably add that to my list of things I want to do again someday!

Sorry for not posting this earlier. I keep forgetting that there are a bunch of railfans on here as well!

Saturday night was awesome!!! They had a night photo shoot for $25, WELL worth the price of admission!

I kept hearing a steam whistle blowing all Sunday afternoon when I was working at Akron City Hospital.

Sounded niece and eerie.

Incredible shots!..Hopefully all the money went towards the cost of maintaning that historic engine so we may see it again someday.

I had no problem paying to get into the session. I figured the money was going to a great cause.

As for having to pay....how is this any different than paying extra to get into the photo pit at an airshow or the pre-show photo tour? Heck, even just paying to get INTO the air show to get pix of statics is paying to take the pix.

Running steam is seen even more rarely than some of the old birds we have flying around. Tell me you wouldn't pay some money to join a photo shoot of one of your favorite old rare birds....I would, I DID.

Besides, there was icing on the cake. Mike and I got to go into the cab to look around, take pix, and blow the whistle. That experience ALONE was worth the price of admission. The last time I had that opportunity was when my dad was fireman on the 4070 for the CVSR back in the 80's. I felt like a giddy kid again!

Of course, to each his own. There are a lot of things people pay top dollar to go see and I wouldn't spend a dime....

Id gladly pay 25 bucks and if i had the extra money to blow, id pay more jus to keep think beauty rollin. This is something we dont get to see enough of unless you go to Kings Island. And even then, a kerosene burning steamer the size of a bread truck isnt as epic as being near an ole freight puller the size of a couple buses backed together. Id love to have been there jus to stand and watch it steam, walk around it, admire it...and to top it off, get vid of myself blow'in the whistle in many different tunes.
