Go figure...it had the last two weeks to act up, but as I got into it today (to make the most of my last day) it was having trouble getting moving. I'd noticed a leak on my driveway the last couple days, and turns out my transmission line is shot! Luckily, I was able to make it a few blocks to a new neighborhood mechanic and we could both see the fluid squirting out when we lifted the hood. Nice. Oh well, at least I got it to a mechanic quickly, and hopefully its only the line and not the whole shebang! We'll see...expecting a call soon!
Oh well...kinda crappy out anyway...
Yes, she's been very good to me all these years, and all I need is a new set of rims and it will almost look good as new. For a 1997, I still only have 98K some miles on it, and it runs great, but it is getting old and some of her pieces parts are bound to wear out. I would love a new vehicle some day, but I just can't stomach car payments again while this one is running just fine. (...and running, and running, and running!) GO Ford Rangers!
sounds like the line to the tranny fluid cooler popped. This happened on my ex-Boss's Dodge Ram plow truck once and i had to fix it in a dam parking lot. Costed me 5 quarts of tranny fluid too.....

That's exactly what happened! Actually, it didn't pop so much as rot...dang thing was 13 years old! When I got to the garage. fluid was squirting out all over the place! Anyway, it's working great now...better than it has in a while
Tranny fluid cooler line....leads from the tranny to the cooler radiator upfront. Means your truck has the capability to do some pulling. Most of the time, its an easy fix...pending you can find the line.

My '98 Accord refuses to break down. Only had two repairs in its life, a Oxygen sensor that was less than $100 and after 12 years the master and slave cylinders for the manual transmission broke down. That was about $550. Seeing that I haven't made a car payment in I don't know how long, that's still no big deal. When the car becomes unreliable or the repairs get too frequent, I guess I'll get something new.

Make sure you do the water pump/timing belt. Should be done every 100k miles.
