I'm surprised no one has posted these yet. A lot of you have seen pics or have heard of the frozen lighthouse on Lake Erie at the west pier at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. For those who haven't, 40+ mph winds and COLD temps have coated the lighthouse in thick ice making for a fantastic photo opportunity. I was there in 15 degree temps with about 20 other photogs. An amazing sight!
Awww, hey...just got back actually. My friend Pam is in town for the weekend and we went to breakfast and then bummed around on the lakefront for a bit. The lighthouse is really cool, and so is the temperature! Maybe we can catch it again over the next couple days, if you're off? I was hoping for some sunshine for the pics and it was pretty gray today, but I still think they came out pretty cool. We'll see...I'm downloading them now and will post in a bit.
By the way...Chris, I love the shot with the ship!
I saw that ship on the horizon as I was shooting. Figured I'd wait around for it to come past. I was dressed warm, but not for 15 degrees....and by the time that ship got to the lighthouse my camera was on the ground, my hands were in my pockets, and I was jumping up and down to try to keep warm. It was a beautiful day, bluebird skies and all, but man was it cold! Hope you got some good shots.
Yeah, it was pretty cold alright, but there were quite a few people at the park taking pictures of it anyway! I was dressed for it too...longjohns and everything, but still! Michi, I have the next two days off so maybe I'll go back down...I'll let you know. 🙂
Anyway, here's a couple of my shots from today, including one event that I think most of the people there missed!
