After dropping a relative off at the airport on Saturday, I was able to spot briefly before returning home for work.  I stopped for gas and managed to snap the best picture of the day!

They departed and never bothered to clean up after themselves.  Third shift will probably deal with it!

Can they do that? That is pretty shady to let your horse just dump at the pumps and roll. I wonder what he was doing there anyways?

Welcome to Amish Country!  Our Wal-Mart has hitching posts for tying horses and the cart collectors also have a wheelbarrow and scoop-shovel as part of their parking lot arsenal.  If you look closely, you can see that the horse is tied to the post between the pumps while the father was inside shopping at the gas station's mini-mart.

I don't know about Middletown, but MIDDLEFIELD has a huge Amish community!  My Dad's shop was out there for years and I would get a huge kick out of seeing the hitching posts at McDonalds, the bank, the hardware store, you name it!  In fact, my Dad's shop was on a buggy by-pass road for Rt.87.  It ran parallel to the main street but back in the woods so that the buggies would stay off the main drag until they had to go there.  They are great people, and not as naive as many would think!

Middletown USA was only a figure of speech but funny coincidence that it is MIDDLEFIELD!

The Amish are good people, they are hard workers and not only make great furniture but their cooking ( Der Dutchman) is some of the best food I've ever had. It is a nice change of pace out there. My only thing is, haven't they heard the commercial by the sewer district urging residents to clean up poop?
