Today's joint announcement from Southwest Airlines and Akron-Canton Airport is that WN will begin non-stop fights to Chicago-Midway and Denver. AirTran service will remain as is.
A few people on Facebook were befuddled by the choices, so I enlightened them. WN usually enters a market with flights to/from a hub or in direct competition with another airline. In this case, Chicago-Midway serves as a hub, and Denver is in direct competition with Frontier Airlines.
