United Continental Holdings, Inc, has announced today that United Airlines will launch a daily non-stop service between Manchester Airport, UK, and Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. Subject to government approval, it is hoped the new service will start in May 2012.
Bob Schumacher, United’s MD in the UK and Ireland, commented: “As well as cutting journey times for travellers between the two cities, the new schedule will greatly increase the range of options for customers travelling beyond our hubs to destinations throughout the Americas.” United Airlines already offers Manchester’s passengers non-stop flights to Newark Liberty International Airport since 1995.
It is not the first time that passengers could fly directly to Washington, DC, from Manchester. UK carrier bmi previously conducted six flights per week between the two destinations from May 2001 to October 2005.
