A plane with 42 paid passengers, an infant and three crew members aboard slid off a runway at the Akron-Canton Airport just after midnight, Fox 8 News reports.
Airport officials tell Fox 8 News that Runway 23 was dry when the United ExpressJet flight (No. 5916) inbound from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport landed in Summit County. After veering off the runway near its midpoint, the plane — an Embraer 145 — became stuck in mud.
