Southwest Airlines Co. filled a record percentage of its seats in December and for all of 2010, joining the roster of U.S. carriers reporting record load factors.
Southwest said Friday that its December load factor reached 80.4 percent, up 4.2 percentage points from the old record set the previous December. For the full year, the Dallas-based carrier said it filled 79.3 percent of its seats, up 3.3 points from its 2009 record.
