A Westjet Boeing 737-800, registration C-GNDG performing flight WS-1244 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Tampa,FL (USA) with 174 people on board, was climbing through FL130 out of Toronto when an acrid smell became noticable in the cabin and increased prompting the crew to decide to return to Toronto while climbing through FL180. The aircraft landed safely back in Toronto about 20 minutes after departure. A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration C-FKWJ reached Tampa with a delay of 4:15 hours. The Canadian TSB reported that maintenance performed a ground run of both engines and the APU, however, the smell could not be reproduced and the aircraft was returned to service.
