N5214E (cn 50514) This peaceful setting on Lake Hood comes with a tragic tale. On July 30, 2011, the Cessna 180 docked on the right (N5214E) was involved in a mid-air collision with a Cessna 206 (N756MP) near the Amber Lake/Trapper Creek area, killing the owner, his wife and two children. The other aircraft made a successful emergency landing at Anchorage using just his floats on the runway, and carrying a large piece of the other aircraft wedged in the float superstructure. RIP to all. |
